The Murder House by James Patterson.

DadsHour Rating – 8.5 out of 10.

I have always been a fan of James Patterson’s work ranging from the Women’s Murder Club and Zoo which to my delight was turned into a TV series, which followed by disappointment.

So after taking my little one out to the shops to get him some new books this one caught my eye, so I brought it and off I went home to in deluge myself into the Murder House.

Official Blurb.

“No. 7 Ocean Drive is a multimillion-dollar beachfront house in the Hamptons, but its beautiful exterior hides a horrific past. This house was the setting for a series of depraved killings that have never been solved. Neglected, empty and rumoured to be cursed, it’s known as the Murder House, and locals keep their distance.

Detective Jenna Murphy has moved to the area to escape her troubled past and rehabilitate a career on the rocks. But when a Hollywood power broker and his mistress are found dead in the abandoned Murder House, Jenna becomes involved in a case that at first seems open and shut, but reveals more secrets than she could possibly imagine.

As more bodies surface and Jenna is drawn deeper into the dark history of No. 7, she must risk her own life to expose the truth – before the Murder House claims another victim”

Right from page one I was hooked, lined and sinker into this book and the story of Jenna Murphy. I can’t say too much without giving away massive spoilers.

This page held my attention and I just had to keep reading page after page, leading into very late nights and a grumpy Daddy in the mornings cause of the lack of sleep!

Throughout the book I was sure I knew who the Psychopath was but James Patterson the master of red herrings, through a spanner in the works at the ending and all was revealed (I was wrong big time).

This book is first class crime/thiller but also a little love story emerges out as well.

DadsHour has rated this book 8.5 out of 10, the missing 1.5 would have been awarded if there was more pages, I know decreasing points for the length of the book is cruel, but I know there could have been more to give, with some of the back stories of certain characters.
